Bajaj Chetak Battery Warranty: What’s Covered and What’s Not

If you’ve decided to ride in style and sustainability with the Bajaj Chetak, one of the first things you need to understand is the battery and warranty coverage. After all, the battery is the heart of your electric scooter, and the warranty is there to give you peace of mind as you take your Chetak out on the road. But what exactly does the Bajaj Chetak battery and warranty cover, and what should you be aware of? Let’s break it all down, step by step, to make sure you're fully informed about your electric scooter's coverage.

Chetak Battery Warranty – How Long Are You Covered?

When you buy a Bajaj Chetak, you’re not just getting a stylish, high-performance electric scooter—you’re also getting a robust warranty package. The Chetak warranty covers the Lithium-ion battery for 50,000 km or 3 years, whichever comes first. That’s a pretty solid guarantee for your battery’s health, considering most scooter owners may not rack up 50,000 km in the first few years. The battery is a crucial part of your electric scooter experience, and Bajaj has your back with this generous coverage.

In addition to the Lithium-ion battery, the auxiliary battery (which powers additional components) has a separate 18-month warranty, while the tyres are covered for 12 months. So, whether you’re cruising through the city streets or heading out for a weekend getaway, Bajaj makes sure your essential parts are covered under warranty.

It’s worth noting that the warranty begins from the Chetak sales invoice date, which is when your coverage clock starts ticking. As long as you stick to the recommended periodic maintenance services at Chetak-authorised service centres, you’re good to go. So, make sure to keep up with regular service to ensure your warranty stays valid.

What’s Not Covered Under Warranty?

While the Chetak warranty covers a lot, there are a few important things to keep in mind. The replacement or repair of some parts under warranty, which includes the Lithium-ion battery, is entirely at the discretion of Bajaj Auto Ltd / Chetak Technology Ltd. This means that the parts may be replaced with new, refurbished, or reconditioned genuine parts. So, don’t be surprised if your replacement part looks slightly different—it’s all part of keeping your scooter running smoothly.

When it comes to battery replacement, it’s based on the energy capacity of the original battery before it fails. This ensures that the replacement battery provides similar performance to what you initially had.

Another key point to remember is that auxiliary batteries and tyres are covered by separate warranties, and the terms and conditions for their replacement are determined by the respective manufacturers. For the auxiliary battery, you have 18 months of coverage, and for the tyres, the warranty lasts for 12 months. So, while Bajaj covers the core components of your ride, these additional parts have separate warranties and should be maintained as per their guidelines.

Lastly, warranty claims are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Pune, which is something to keep in mind if you ever find yourself in a dispute.

Extended Warranty – More Coverage, More Peace of Mind

Let’s face it—everyone loves a little extra protection, right? That’s where the Extended Warranty comes into play. The Extended Warranty is an additional coverage that kicks in once your basic warranty period (3 years or 50,000 km) expires. It’s like an insurance policy for your Chetak, ensuring that you continue to enjoy top-notch service without worrying about expensive repairs and replacements down the road.

There are two extended warranty plans available:

  • Plan 1: Adds 1 year or 10,000 km of coverage (whichever happens first).
  • Plan 2: Adds 2 years or 20,000 km of coverage (whichever happens first).

Both plans offer extra protection for repair or replacement costs due to manufacturing defects, ensuring that you’re covered for any unexpected issues. If you're someone who loves long trips or frequently uses your scooter, this extended coverage can provide that extra layer of security for your ride.

How Can You Purchase the Extended Warranty?

The Extended Warranty is available for purchase on the Chetak website. If you’re buying the Chetak and the Extended Warranty together, you can select it under the Add-On Section. If you already own a Chetak and would like to buy the extended warranty for your existing scooter, you can easily purchase it online by heading to the My Vehicles Section on the website.

However, there are a couple of conditions to be aware of: To be eligible for the Extended Warranty, your Chetak must be less than 2 years old (730 days) from the date of sale and have covered less than 50,000 km. If your scooter fits this criteria, you’re eligible to add the extended warranty for extra peace of mind.

How Much Does the Extended Warranty Cost?

The cost of the Extended Warranty depends on the plan you choose and how much time has passed since your Chetak’s original sale invoice. The price may vary, so make sure to check the latest price information by logging into the Chetak website to get the most accurate details for your specific vehicle model.

Charging Your Chetak: Keep Your Scooter Ready to Go

Charging your Chetak is a breeze. The Chetak 3501 comes with an onboard charger and a charging cable, so all you need is a normal 220V, 15A, 3-pin earthed socket. Just plug in and let it charge, and you’re good to go. On the other hand, the Chetak 3502 comes with an offboard charger, which you can use with any normal 220V, 5A, 3-pin earthed socket.

However, it's important to remember that any damage caused to your Chetak or the provided equipment due to voltage spikes over 250V or malfunctioning earthing issues is your responsibility. So, make sure your charging setup is safe and properly maintained to avoid any issues.

Understanding Your Chetak Battery and Warranty

The Bajaj Chetak battery and warranty package gives you solid protection, ensuring that your electric scooter will keep running smoothly for years. With coverage for the Lithium-ion battery, auxiliary battery, and tyres, along with the option to extend your warranty for added peace of mind, Bajaj has you covered from every angle.
